Tuning into and expanding our awareness can have great impact on our lives in countless ways. When you find yourself overwhelmed, overthinking or overreacting in a situation take a deep breath and asking yourself, “Am I allowing and expanding or resisting and reacting?” When you find yourself resisting and/or reacting ask yourself: why, what, and how questions? Why do I feel this way, what is my fear, how can I learn from this? Journal or explore with a friend.
It will take practice to remember to do this in the more challenging moments, but when you do, begin with the questions above and dig deeper with another round of why, what, and how, until you reach a new level of clarity, a new realization or simply feel a shift within yourself. Pay attention to how your body feels and reacts during this process. A tightness in your chest or shoulders or a feeling of lightness in your heart center holds valuable insight as well.
You can try this anytime by creating an intention to expand your awareness around an area in your life you are finding a challenge or you may preceive has always challenged you in some way. I highly recommend journaling to dig in. The insights that come through when journaling are usually greater than we expect. Try some different approaches to find what works best for you. If you decide to work this through with a trusted friend be sure they are a good listener, and offer reflection with kindness and not judgement or projection.
Our challenges offer opportunities to learn and grow. Self-awareness will shift the times of resisting and reacting to expanding and allowing. 💖
